Real Mom, Real Talk: Forgiveness

Sometimes, being a parent is hard. We place a lot of pressure on ourselves, and all these gorgeous photos, blogs, and instagrams we see on the internet doesn't always help. We're starting a new series called Real Mom, Real Talk: real, raw, and relatable. 

Today, we have Maddi taking over our first Real Mom, Real Talk series.

"We live in a world so consumed with hatred. People hardly understand anymore that you don't always have to benefit from doing for others, you can just do. It's a scary thing, trying to raise your children with decent morals when society has such a foggy image of what is right and wrong. I think that's where teaching our little ones about forgiveness should come into play. Because lets face it, there is a lot of cruelness in the world and holding grudges will eventually wear down ones mind."

  

"These past few weeks I've been learning a lot about forgiving, TRULY forgiving from the depths of your soul. I've focused more on staying humble when your life gives you the messiest of situations, even when people would understand you going completely mad. It isn't easy, forgiving, it's actually very trying and sometimes even risky. I say risky in the best way possible, a "good risky." The only reason I say this is because when you forgive someone, you may be putting yourself at risk to be in that same vulnerable state you were once in. However, in the same light, you may not be. You may be opening the doors for your own self strength to flourish in ways you never knew existed, to grow with an open mind and realize things about yourself you may have never thought possible."

"I think as a mother, forgiving will always be something I try to instill in my babies, for some days it is me who needs to be forgiven by them. How will I do this you wonder? How will I make daily efforts to raise my babies with tender hearts? 

The short answer.... with love. With patience. With gratitude. Always staying conscious of what is truly important, which is their own happiness. There will be days where you fall, days you sit alone while tears roll down your face like a quiet rain, but it won't be for long, as you are needed."

Behind the Mini Fashion Scene with @rad.paisley

Hey, y'all! We've got another Behind the Mini Fashion Scene up today. Thanks for following along through these! We have loved seeing all the different style and possibilities of such super cute outfits through the small shop world.

Tonight, @rad.paisley and her littles are taking over.

"Hi all! My name is Alyssa and I am mama to Radley (4) and Paisley (21 months) You can find us over @rad.paisley. Our typical day consist of me trying to keep up with my active kiddos (I wish I had at least half their energy), playing with trains, singing along to Frozen, chasing each other around the house, tickle fights and lots of cuddles!"

Q: Why do you shop small?
"There are so many reasons why I shop small but I think it all comes down to the fact that I love the adorable, unique clothes and the sweet friendships I've made with many small shop owners. I love knowing that Radley won't be wearing the same thing that all the other kids in his preschool class are wearing and that my shopping small is supporting those moms and dads trying to provide for their families."

Q: How did you discover the small shop world?
"I stumbled upon the small shop world when I found out I was expecting Paisley. I discovered pages on Instagram that were selling their used small shop clothes and through that found a world of amazing small shops I never knew existed. We've been obsessed since!"

Q: What is your favorite way to style a tee?
"There are so many fun ways to style a tee but on a typical day, Radley will wear his tee with some distressed denim (we love @tbhdenim and @farmfreshdenim) and Paisley will wear hers with a pair of bloomers or leggings from @autumnnicoledesigns."

Q: What has been your favorite design from Neverland Crew Clothing?
"We love them all!! I honestly don't think I could pick just one favorite. I do really love the 'who says we have to grow up' tee because that's exactly how I feel about my kids right now. I wish I could just freeze time and keep them little forever! Do they really have to grow up?!"

Q: Do your kids like to pick out their own outfit?
"We haven't crossed that bridge yet thankfully, but Radley will definitely let me know if he doesn't want to wear a certain item. Paisley is just happy to wear whatever I put her in as long as she can somehow reach her belly button, she's obsessed with her belly!"

Q: What's your favorite part about Neverland Crew Clothing?
"I not only love how fun and clever the designs are at @neverlandcrewclothing but I love the shop owner! I have gotten to know Ashley the past several months and she is as sweet as they come. She is easy going, honest and truly cares about her customers happiness!"

It's another week, and it came so fast! We're ready to bring you some more mini fashion inspiration. But y'all. These kids are dressed to the nines and have such better style than me. Mom probs ;)

Tonight, our Mini Fashion Scene takeover is by @joeyleeelizabeth.

"Hey y'all I'm Joey, you can find us at @joeyleeelizabeth where I capture our life one little square at a time.  I'm a stay at home mom to 3 little ladies...Kaylee (7), Keira (5) & Kendall (3).  While the big girls are at school, that means for 4 hours everyday mommy and Kendall get one on one time.  When we aren't taking pictures you can find us doing something outdoors whether it be a trip to the park, out on the boat or a nice hike.  Kendall is obsessed with baby dolls, playing with chalk and our new kitten Crew." 

Q: Why do you shop small?

"I love shopping small because not only do you get to make friends with the amazing shop owners but you get some amazing clothes too.  We love being able to support small shops and all the hard work they put into there business.  The other thing we love most is that your not going to find these pieces on every kid in your town.  We love wearing unique clothes and being able to stand out.  Plus who doesn't get tired of hearing how stinkin' cute their kid looks in clothes we've got from shopping small?! I know I don't!"

Q: How did you discover the small shop world?

"It actually found us.  We won some headbands from the amazing @shelbychicboutique_inc and then took some adorable pictures and posted them.  Veronica contacted us and asked if we wanted to rep/model for her shop and since we love a good sparkle headband we couldn't turn her down.  After that we found some amazing shops by hoping around, by some of our amazing followers that we follow and shops finding us."

Q: What is your favorite way to style a tee?

"There are so many ways to style a tee.  You can dress it up with a cute tutu from @rhinestonesandtutus and cute sunhat from @theposhplum.  For a more running around town but still looking cute as ever you can pair it with our favorite distressed denim @farmfreshdenim or for a comfy lounge around the house feel we'd pair it with a pair of bloomers or shorts.  The possibilities are literally endless."

Q: What has been your favorite design from Neverland Crew Clothing?

"I love all the designs, I mean how could you not.  They are so creative and it's amazing that Taylor (Ashley's husband) hand draws some of the designs.  But I think my favorite might be "Over the Mountains & Through the Woods"  We spend lots of time as a family in mountains taking hikes or in the snow.  Another favorite is the "Hola Flamigo"  I mean I can't help but chuckle every time I see it and who doesn't love flamingos?!"

Q: Does Kendall like to pick out her own outfit?

"Kendall is at the age where she will give her input.  I like to give her options so that we don't have an argument about it.  She likes to help me pick out her accessories and her hairstyle, she isn't too picky on the actual clothes.  Which is nice cause I don't want a pissed off threenager before a photo shoot!"

Q: What's your favorite part about Neverland Crew Clothing?

"What I love the most besides fast shipping, amazing and unique designs is that Ashley the shop owner is the sweetest most amazing woman.  She is very down to earth, I love that she interacts with her reps and customers."

I am so excited about our new series, Behind the Mini Fashion Scene. We're going to introduce you to some serial and frequent small shoppers, and give you fashion inspiration and a glance into their style... well their littles style ;)

"Hi!  We're @livandlulu. My name is Sally and I'm the mama behind Olivia and Lucy, two tiny humans from Columbus, Ohio.  We spend our Summers on the lake and our Winters hibernating.  We have a very close knit family and spend almost everyday with them.  The girls are miracle babes to say the least - my husband Charlie and I had to do everything under the sun to have a successful and healthy pregnancy and we couldn't imagine life any other way.  The girls are at such a fun age  - they love Disney Junior, their fluffy puppy Skippy, covering their arms in mama's bracelets, stuffing endless amount of fruit snacks in their mouths, stealing toys from each other, then making up with hugs and slobbery kisses."

  

Q: Why do you shop small?

"I started shopping small when the girls were born because there are only so many big box children's stores and I was sick of seeing the same exact thing on everyone.  Since I started, it has grown into so much more than looking for unique fashion for my littles - I shop small because I want to support the hustlers.  The mamas that are working hard sewing after their kiddos are in bed or designing tees during nap time, trying to put food on the table or pay for that dance class their babe is dying to be a part of. I have developed some seriously amazing friendships in the small shop community and I hope that only continues to grow as time goes on."

Q: How did you discover the small shop world?

"I discovered the small shop world on a whim - it started with some Etsy searches and following a few of the 'big' small shops on IG when I was pregnant with the twins.  It didn't take long for me to realize that there was an entire community behind it and I was immediately hooked."

Q: What is your favorite way to style a tee?

"Before entering the brand rep world, I had no idea how many ways there were to style a tee.  Now I know the options are endless and I've had so much fun developing the girls style over time.  I absolutely love pairing a tee with a @tinandella tutu to dress it up and give it some girly flair.  I also adore a comfy tee with some distressed denim from @farmfreshdenim for the days we're out and about.  Then, for the days the girls are on the move, I like to pair a tee with some amazing leggings and matching turban from @autumnnicoledesigns for ultimate comfort and style.  And - let's be honest....most of the time when we're at home, I style a tee with a diaper....there's really nothing cuter that chubby baby legs!"

Q: What has been your favorite design from Neverland Crew Clothing?

"Ummm.  All of them! Seriously though - I think my original favorite is the Explore design because its initially what brought me to the shop.  It was so creative, yet simple and it made me want to go explore! More recently though, my new favorite is the 'Good To Be Me' design.  I think my love for this one stems from my girls being twins - everyone (including me!) groups them together as 'the twins'.  I want them to know that while that is such a large part of their identity, they are each their own person and unique in their own individual ways.  I think the message that this tee holds is really important for every child (and adult)!"

Q: Do your girls like to pick out their own outfits?

"Ha!  If by picking out their out outfit you mean reaching in drawers and pulling everything out, then yes! I'm not looking forward to the days when my girls have opinions on their outfits - its going to be a real point of contention for this control freak mama!"

Q: What's your favorite part about Neverland Crew Clothing?

"There is so much that I could say here - I love every aspect of Neverland Crew Clothing.  Ashley, the mama behind the shop is one of the kindest, most supportive ladies I've come across in the small shop world and her hubby is so talented and hand draws many of the unique designs.  Every new release totally makes me smile and I know that for every single holiday, there is going to be some crazy good shirt that my girls just can't live without. Neverland Crew Clothing is one of those shops that once you discover, you will never look back  - the tees will become a part of so many of your kiddos childhood memories  - I promise!"
